I finally completed the first of my two winecap mushroom beds. I still have the other to do, of course, but I have to figure out exactly where to put it. For now, shaded areas are still at a premium. In a few years, we will have all the shade we could want, but the trees are fairly short and spindly yet.

My garden bed is also planted and beginning to do well. It will be quite crowded when everything comes up. Corn, succotash beans, green and yellow beans, zucchinis, cucumbers, tomatoes, cabbages, kales, chijimisai, mustards, NZ Spinach, hot and bell peppers, marigolds, kohlrabi, watermelons (yellow fleshed and Siberian), probably a few other things I’ve already forgotten about…

My herb beds had to be partially replanted this year, but the replants seem to be doing fairly well. The Rock Soapwort is doing especially nicely. It looks rather lovely, will cascade over the edge, and is quite useful once it grows enough to be harvested. I am quite interested to try the soap from it.

I still need to find a place for my perennial greens, and I’m thinking that may require knocking together a bed from scrapwood. After the amount of time invested in them, I’d hate to lose them

I also have 2 boxes of Miscanthus Gigantus grass to get into the ground. I shall have to see if I can get that done this week.
