Full-Moon-Ish Nights

It’s not the full moon right now. At least, I don’t think it is… but ask anyone who has ever worked in mental health care or policing and thry will tell you, full moons make weird stuff happen. And last night was such a night.

Not only did I have the usual far-too-frequent trips to the bathroom (I am SO grateful our bathroom is inside the house), but the children were talking in their sleep, the dog wanted out into the pouring rain in the middle of the night, and the cats were all behaving oddly.

We have three cats. One usually insists on sleeping between husband and I on the pillows. The other two are most often perched on one or another of the children’s beds. Last night, they were all prowling and calling and making very strange noises. We would have 12 pounds of cat trample over us in the bed, sniff our ears, and then jump down and wander the house, calling plaintively. Another would answer and things would settle for a minute or two, and then another round would begin. Very strange.

Then at 430, we had a rousing performance of the main aria from Opera Di Polli en Due. Which they reprised in encore at 5 and again at 630.

Needless to say, it wasn’t the most restful of nights…
