Festive Days

Since I wrote last, we’ve had several celebratory days. I had a birthday, and we’ve had two religious holidays, so we’ve been far more social than is usual for us.

On my birthday weekend, the kiddos spent a few days with Nana, and I got some quiet time. Then we got back together on the actual day for a tasty meal.

I found this Pumpkin soup kit at the butcher shop. It looked SOO good. Soup, and homemade rolls and salad.

The kiddos had spent some of their time at Nana’s working on making me a birthday present:

They did a great job!

We recently celebrated Passover as well. There are so many different calendars out there, and Passover is celebrated on many different days. Ours was this past weekend. For a bit of added fun this year, I did a ‘plague hunt’ for the kids, where I hid a bunch of little frogs around for them to find. They had a great time with it

Only 50 frogs this year. I will add to it, year by year as they get older.

I also, as a way to make them think a little bit about what the plagues would have been like, decorated their plates like this:

It entirely freaked them out, so mission accomplished on that score.

We also celebrated Purim for the first time this year. We had been invited by friends, and who doesnt love an opportunity to get together, dress up, eat food, and hoot and holler and boo through the reading of Esther? It was a fun day.

It is absolutely mud season, and leaving the house involves a very long slog through muck and yuck, but such days make it worth it. We’re supposed to get rain 4 of the next 7 days, so who knows? Maybe we shall have to emulate Noah and build a boat…

We’re a wee bit soggy.
