Fail!

I’ve been worried about the shed tent ever since we put it up. It is almost constantly windy here. Sometimes, the wind is quite violent. After every blow, I look out to see if it has survived. Every time, it has still been standing

Yesterday, it lost the fight. The good news is, only the tarp sustained damage. It was sun-rotted, apparently, and the wind found a weak spot. The structure took no damage. We had always planned to convert it to a greenhouse anyway – likely in the early spring – so that timeline has simply been accelerated. We have the greenhouse plastic, have had since we came here, just have to figure out the installation thereof. It isnt supposed to rain or snow until Monday, so we have the weekend to figure it out.

Also, a couple days ago, for no apparent reason, our doorknob stopped working. It doesnt latch anymore, it doesnt turn properly, and it no longer locks. I have no idea what happened, but in 78km/h gusts, it meant we had to brace the door shut with a chair, or tape it when we left the house. We bought a new knob, but whoever installed this one (I bought the door used) stripped all the screws, so I had to go out and find screw-extractor bits, and I didnt get out for that until yesterday. So I’ll try to take a look at that today.

On the tractor side of things, it still isnt runing yet. It hopefully WILL BE, shortly. Neighbour ended up taking all 3 of the bus batteries for testing and charging. 2 are garbage (well, recycle), but one evetually did take a reconditioning and charging. It took almost 3 days, but it charged. Hopefully it will also HOLD a charge. I’ll pick that up from him sometime this week.

So…win some, lose some. Surprisingly, the destruction of the tent did not wig me out. I’ll call that progress.
