The rest of the weekend was mostly about trying to keep an overproud British Senior man in his bed and not moving around too much. When one refuses to be seen as ‘showing weakness’, that is not a simple task.
I found him in the kitchen at 5 am, trying to feed the cats. He could barely walk, but he had gotten himself out there, because the routine MUST be kept. I sent him back to bed. Around 10, I got rousted out of my shower by one of the kids because one of the kittens had wandered off and he was out of bed again to find it. What he found instead was a dripping, towel-clad, angry me, sending him back to lay down with some salty words. I think I rather surprised him. He *mostly* stayed put after that. Especially after a committee of myself, the neighbour and my mother (via text), threatened very seriously to tie him down the next time. Better that than permanent disability.
Yesterday, husband and I had the task of chasing down, catching and crating our extra 6 drakes and our ineffective, nasty rooster for their appointment with freezer camp. Much excrement. Much stink. But today, they get diapatched, and tomorrow, I have a large amount of meat for the freezer.
This morning is about tending the fire. 2 and a half days without heat makes the house super chilly. This afternoon, a visit with a friend and the rest of the laundry that got left behind on the weekend
