It is snowing today. Tomorrow is the last day of October. It is far too early.

While we have indeed tarped the woodpiles and brought the smaller kindling inside to dry, I am not ready yet for winter snow. There is yet more kindling to bring in, plus the bag of birchbark. The toys and bikes and tools still need to be stowed in the shed tent before the snow stays.
We have put a deposit down on an 8×14 shed this week. It will arrive likely sometime next week, and it will become the replacement storage space for the truck that is still in mom’s yard. We will move the furniture that is coming here – the wardrobe and the breakfront, and then the shed will take the remainder -my loom, the treadle, my cloth cupboard, the table, and whatever boxes we can’t stow upstairs in the loft. Then the truck can be paid off and removed and that will make everyone involved happier. Having our things here and not over an hour away will be lovely. We started clearing the space for it yesterday, but there is still much to do.
Next Sunday, the extra drakes and our rooster go to the processor, and then shortly thereafter the flock we are keeping will be coming here, so I have to have something worked out for that, too, soon.
