Hurricane season is upon us, which means we will be seeing quite a lot of rain and some wind events. Hopefully, this year we won’t have actual HURRICANES, but it is always possible.
Today, we are having rain. A lot of rain. Some wind, but nothing threatening unless you’re trying to drive. Not a good day to be out at all.
That makes it a good day to do handicrafts though. Reading, drawing and colouring for the kiddos (and maybe drawing later for me, too), reading and fiber fun for me. Husband is writing.

I’ve made it to the third row in my nålebinding project. I decided on a winter headband, as that is a straightforward stitching project; no reducing or adding stitches involved. It’s a good way to pratcice the basic stitch and get something useful out of it.

I also purchased a piece of nostalgia at the dollar store last week. I spent many hours in my childhood with a spool in my hand (although that one was much nicer than this one). Today, I have spent a couple hours again. I am working in 100% virgin wool, so the resulting I-cord will be coiled into hotmats. I chose a coppery colour as that will be my kitchen accent colour once the house is built. I may do placemats as well, and who knows? Maybe I’ll work up to a full-size rug.

Speaking of rugs, I have run out of scrap for my braided rug. Another trip to the mill will be warranted sometime soon. For now, though, I need to decide what I am sewing this together with and acquire a large tapestry needle for the job.
