Some Days, We Play Whack-a-Mole

Some days, life is a well-oiled machine. We have the to do list and we knock the jobs off like milk bottles at the midway and win the big prize. And then we have days like today. Days where nothing whatsoever works the way we need it to and we play whack-a-mole and catch-up and end the day with little to show for the effort.

I took the kids to the library this morning. A different one they’ve not been to before. So everything was exciting and there were kids they’d never met before and they were so busy playing, they wouldnt pick out their own books. So I picked out a wide assortment of books for them. Well! Apparently I have no taste whatsoever in literature. They hate every single book except for the one called ‘Smell my Foot!’ which they condescend to find amusing.

Errands after. Bank, hardware store, grocery store. Both the younger ones ended up having a screaming meltdown in the parking lot. One because we didnt get pizza, and one because we didnt go to the dollar store. Public meltdowns, my favourite.

The afternoon, I spent doing laundry because one of the cats decided to use the laundry hamper as a litter box. Yeah. Awesome. I had to wash it all a few times with borax and vinegar to get the smell out. It’s supposed to rain tonight and all day tomorrow, so I will need to go out shortly and take everything off the line and hang it in the bus.

I feel like my brain went offline about 5 hours ago, but I still have to function for at least another hour. Tomorrow, we sleep in. Hopefully.
