The garlic spray seems to be working. The mosquitos descend en masse at about 9:30 pm. You can hear them coming. Before now, it was required that we shut the windows at that point. For the last few days, we’ve been able to keep at least one window open.
By 1030 pm, it is usually at its worst. Before now, that would mean we had several dozen inside and would spend the next 2 hours minimum hunting them down, hoping no more come in in the meantime. The last few days, we’ve had one or two or maybe five to hunt down at 1030, and a few after that, but not too bad.
So, indications are the spray is effective. Come the end of the week, when we know we can refill, we will spray the ground in a widened perimeter around the house, and hopefully extend our ‘mosquito force field’away from the walls.
I have also been working at carving the yard out of the overgrowth again. We have the gas mower here, now, so I can do more than 30 minutes once a week. I spent 2 hours yesterday morning (one tank of gas), and almost finished carving the orchard clear. I have one more session to do, I think, to finish that, and push the edges back farther .
I am also working toward having the weed whacker running (it hasnt been started in a couple years, so it needs a bit of tinkering), and then I can push back into the softer areas or the areas with a lot of scrub still.
I got part of the compost fence finished this morning. I can only handle the bugs for so long at a time, so it isnt terribly swift. I placed the uprights yesterday and did a row or two of the weaving, and then continued it this morning. Another day or two and I should have it completed.
I’ve been really longing towards art the last week ir so. I need that release soon, I think. I may play with some wet felt. Haven’t done that before, but I already have most of what I need for it, and what I dont have, mom probably does. It’s messy and clean at the same time, physical but simple. Sounds like it might fit the bill just fine.
