Some weeks, it seems like nothing happens at all, and other weeks we’re constantly on the run. This is one of the latter variety. Other than yesterday, when I felt like roadkill and huddled next to the heater unless absolutely necessary.
The usual shopping trips, of course. When one is using a cooler as a fridge, one can only store a few days of food at a time. So we have to shop small amounts fairly frequently.
This week we also have social trips. We have two families that we try to get together with every month or so, and this month, that happened both in the same week. One is an hour away, one is nearly 2 hours. Once the ‘house’ is livable, they can visit US, too, instead of us making the trip every time. The bus is just too small to allow for hospitality….and we don’t have any chairs.
Since we were out that way today anyway, we also went to the cheaper grocery store for a bigger order (we were out of just about everything), and the more diverse hardware store, because garbage cans are apparently impossible to get up here, and we need to get the animal feed out of the house and into the barn hall, in containers that an escaped goat cannot eat herself to death from.
I’m tired.
But there are compensations. I got to hold a 2 week-old baby š
