I’m a scavenger.
Partly because the budget is small. Partly because too much stuff just gets thrown out. So I reuse things for purposes they were never intended to see.
Oh, there are certain things that one can only use the intended item for, and for those things I bow to necessity, but we live in a world that is increasingly cluttered with things that are discarded with plenty of life in them yet, and why shouldn’t those things find a second purpose?
In my garden, I am particularly of magpie tendancies. I will plant in anything at all. I have used everything from heavy cardboard boxes, door frames, pallets, shipping crates, old tires, half barrels, torn-apart shelf units, cinderblocks, hay bales…you name it, I’ve probably planted into it.
This particular year, so far I have muffin boxes, a donut box, 2 old buckets, 3 plastic storage baskets, 2 garden trugs, and most recently a Kent storage bin has become home to my Jerusalem Artichokes

When we were given the bus, it came with a bunch of junk. One such piece that strikes me as having massive potential is a water tank. It isnt useable as a water tank any more, as it is quite dirty inside, but if I was to cut the top out of it….
Would make either a stock tank (well scrubbed), or a good sized planter
