Twitchetty

As I write this, something- most likely a raccoon -is rifling through the recycle bin outside the bus. Making quite the racket, too.

I shone my light outside, made noise. It quieted down briefly. Husband opened the back door (creeeeaaaak). So far, it hasnt picked back up again.

I amuse myself because I am a very ‘country’ person, and yet I know if I came face to face with any of the resident wildlife at any time, I would scream like a little girl. I love raccoons….over there. Or in pictures. In reality, they are twitchetty buggers and you can’t predict or control them. And they’re smart, too

I know they’re here. We have tracks all the time. Having the dog here eventually should help, but I am beginning to wonder if I will ever be able to grow corn. Even at the other house, where we almost never saw tracking or signs of them at all, the raccoons destroyed my corn patch. Here…here I might as well just throw seed corn on the ground…

Maybe if I plant the corn really close to the building, and put a motion-activated security light in that area…

Wildlife is GOOD. It’s awesome that they’re here….but they are also a gardener’s frustration…
