We Got Our Exercise

We’ve been parking across the field for awhile now, since we got stuck last. Neighbour cleared a spot in his secondary driveway because it is flat, and we’ve been parking there. It takes our walk to the van from 1/4 mile to about 1/3 mile. On a regular day, we do the walk – there and back- twice. Today, we did it three times. The first at 730, as usual, to take husband to work, then back to feed kiddos their breakfast.

Out again immediately after breakfast, in order to get tires replaced. Then back for lunch.

Out again to pick husband up from work and back for supper.

Each trip down, the snow was softer and more slushy. Each trip down was more physically challenging because the ground slipped and slid under our feet. The last time up, we were also dealing with mud and water.

Today, I wasn’t hauling anything. Many days, I am either loaded down with bags, or hauling the laden sled. We’ll be in good shape, at least.

I moved Maggie into the empty stall today. Closer to the chickens, so she can have a bit more company. Fresh bedding. Fresh browse. Tomorrow, I shall shovel her old stall out and toss the used bedding into the mud to make a walkable pathway. If I feel well, at least. Today, I do not. Sinus pressure, facial pain, headache, exhaustion. Tomorrow might be for naps instead. We shall see.

But, I accomplished two whole things today, and I can be okay with that.
