A Little Progress

We began today where we left off yesterday. We got most of the things out of the tent yesterday, but the couch remained. It’s a fairly big sucker, heavy and awkward. Today, though, the ground was a bit more solid, so we loaded it on the cart and got it moved

The tent is looking quite empty now…and quite miserably dirty. Being used as a catch-all storage shed for months can do that. But, since it is destined to become a greenhouse, I suppose ‘dirty’ isn’t terrible

It only remains to move and store the tools now.

The rest of the afternoon we spent on affixing hasps on the goat and hayloft doors (we needn’t rely on heavy props to keep them closed now.), added a heavy barrel bolt to Ms. Maggie’s stall, as she managed to butt the latch open four times in a single day, and then carted, carried and stacked firewood for a few hours.

We were still finished by 330, tired, thirsty and ready for a cup of tea.

And then, HalleuYah, at 4pm, the phone rang. The insulation is finally here! So that meant an immediate trip to the hardware store as well.

A rare treasure, this!

Tomorrow, we can begin the work again in earnest. And what a relief that is, indeed. Tomorrow should also be cold enough I can actually drive up the driveway again. It’s been squishy for a couple days now and I nearly got stuck last time. I can’t say I would look forward to hauling this up the quarter mile on foot. All the same, it is good to know it is here. We have what we need to continue the work.

Tonight is cold, but sparklingly clear. The moon and stars and planets are bright. There is some astronomical convergence or somesuch happening also, with the result that Jupiter and Venus are brighter than I have ever seen them before.
