Until the rest of the insulation arrives, there’s only so much we can do. We’ll putter away at it.
Yesterday, we finished covering the East dividing wall. That one has the door in it, so it was a bit more complicated than the West wall the day before. The over-strapping still needs to go up, but that will wait for another day. We don’t have many strips left. I’ll need to pick up another bundle when I get the insulation.

We still had daylight left when the wall was finished, so we started assembling the kids’ triple bunkbed.

Nothing fancy -just rough rectangular frames for now. We’ll be setting slats into the frames and because the wood is rough-cut, unplaned, and inclined to be sappy/sticky, the frames will be wrapped in burlap. ‘Rustic’ is an understatement, but it will be strong and functional.

Lucy is setting in well. She came here with a not-terribly-dangerous condition called hay belly. Basically, if hay or straw is available, she eats compulsively. Since she was bedded on straw at mom’s, there was no way to keep her from overeating. Here, we carefully bedded her on woodchips instead, and her diet is being carefully watched. She has pile of small scrubtrees to eat (a goat’s regular forage) and gets her daily ration of grain, alfalfa, and a small amount of sweet feed. 2 days ago, she looked massively pregnant. By this morning, she has deflated considerably and looks far more normal. She isnt terribly happy to not have her face constantly full of hay, but I would bet her tummy feels better.
